My Bio

As a professional speaker and seminar leader for more than 25 years, with more than 3000 paid presentations to his credit, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world experience from a variety of industries, including banking, manufacturing, professional services, technology, hospitality, health care, and government.  Tom has provided training for companies such as General Electric, NASA, ExxonMobil, JP Morgan, US Airways, Deloitte and Touche, Sovereign Bank, BMW, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Astra Zeneca, Nabisco, and the American Red Cross.  In central Pennsylvania, Tom has presented for audiences from Blue Shield, Giant Foods, Manufacturers' Association of Central PA, Navy Supply Depot, High Industries, United Defense, EDS, PP&L Parente Randolph, Caterpillar, The PUC, Armstrong World Industries, CB Structures, PCCD, and The County Commissioners' Association of PA.

Tom holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Speech Communication from DeSales University in Allentown, PA, and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Rider University in Trenton, NJ.  As an Account Executive for Videolearning in Haverford, PA, Tom introduced ITC's Supervisory Methods to the healthcare industry in the tri-state area.  From there, Tom served as a Performance Consultant with the Asset Development Group/Wilson Learning of Philadelphia, where he developed and presented workshops in leadership, behavioral styles, and consultative selling.  In 1985, Tom became Corporate Director of Training and Development for HERCO (Hershey Entertainment & Resort Co.).  There, he developed and implemented a new performance management system.  Tom won an award from Training Magazine for an article he published on Supervisor Development entitled "Back to Basics."

In 1989, Tom joined Franklin Quest (publisher of the Franklin Day Planner), which later became FranklinCovey Co. after merging with the Covey Leadership Center (founded by Stephen Covey, author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People).  As a Seminar Leader and Senior Consultant from 1989–2000, Tom presented more than 1,800 seminars to more than 50,000 participants, on the topics of Time Management, Stress Management, The 7 Habits..., Business Writing, Managing Personal Change, and Building Trust.  In 2000, Tom left FranklinCovey Co, to work with Partners In Leadership, a California-based consulting firm, where he facilitated The OZ Principle: Accountability Training Workshop.  Tom then served as Director of Training Compliance for Youth Advocate Programs, Inc., a private non-profit provider of Advocacy and Mental Health services based in Harrisburg, PA.

Tom is currently President of TFB Consulting.   He is also associated with several national and regional management consulting firms, including Harrisburg-based Dering Consulting Group.  To also serves as guest Instructor for Millersville University's Corp. U. in Lancaster, PA.  Over the years, Tom has been certified with Wilson Learning, Zenger Miller, FranklinCovey Co., Forum Corp., Brody Professional Development, Management Team Consultants, and Auto Training Institute.  Tom is a member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), and the National Speakers' Association (NSA).  He is also involved with the Boy Scouts of America (Eagle Scout), and he is a church lay minister.

Avocationally, Tom is an actor, director, published poet, singer, and songwriter.  He and his wife, Roberta, and their children, Matthew, Michael, and Elizabeth, enjoy swimming, tennis, music, and the arts.
